Sandra Hormozi Artist Representative with Encompass Arts Sandra Hormozi comes to Encompass Artists with knowledge of the music, business and philanthropic industries from the inside-out. Known for many years for her singing, Ms. Hormozi’s background has given her fine-tuned appreciation for artistic excellence and the realities and practicalities of the current state of the industry. Her work with premier operatic artists and business leaders has set the bar high for artistic standards tempered with a down-to-earth work ethic. Along with consulting and developing young artists as well representing in-career artists, she is the American administrator of Donata D’Annunzio Lombardi’s StageDaltrocanto Program, organizer of the first ever USA preliminaries of the Istituto Nazionale Tostiano International Vocal Competition 2016, and recent jury member of the first OperaLive Competition 2015 in Potenza, Italy. Sandra Hormozi began her adventure in opera as a singer who moved to New York to study at the Manhattan School of Music. As a member of the John Brownlee Opera Program at Manhattan, she performed the roles of the Cook in Stravinsky's Le Rossignol and Mother Marie in Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites. During her studies, she participated in the Kent Blossom Music Festival, was a Studio Artist with Central City Opera, a Young Artist with Sarasota Opera and spent two summers as an Apprentice Artist with Santa Fe Opera. Ms. Hormozi then completed two years as a Young Artist with Pittsburgh Opera, under the leadership of Tito Capobianco. She made her debut with the company as the Nurse in Boris Godunov. As a member of the Opera Center, she performed the roles of Bertarido in their production of Handel's Rodelinda and Arminda in La Finta Giardiniera. Further professional operatic experience included her debut with Tulsa Opera under the baton of Ransom Wilson in the role of Third Lady from The Magic Flute and with Shreveport Opera, in the role of the Mother in Hansel and Gretel. After moving to the soprano repertoire, she made her debut in the title role of Aida in Kosice, Slovakia. She has also sung many concerts in such locations as the Palazzo Pisani-Moretta in Venice, Italy, the Bruno Walter Auditorium in New York City, Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, Germany and throughout the United States. As a winner of the Opera Index Competition, she was presented in a Gala honoring Alfredo Kraus. Ms. Hormozi was a finalist of the Luciano Pavarotti International Vocal Competition and the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She has participated in numerous master classes and privately worked with legendary singers Franco Corelli, Regine Crespin, Birgit Nilsson, Evelyn Lear, Martin Katz, Hermann Prey and Renata Scotto. Outside of the operatic world, Ms. Hormozi has spent 15 years working within the world of Wall Street at two of the most prestigious and well respected banks in the investment banking industry. Here she honed her professional organizational, communication, travel and international business skills. |
