Pronunciation sound files Piano StudentsPianists will take Russian classes, work on opera and song repertoire, accompany rehearsals, master classes and participate in song recitals. Advanced & Young SingersWe encourage both advanced and young singers to audition for the program. Young singers, undergrads, will be assigned songs and arias according to voice and level, and will understudy full roles. This will ensure a healthy entry level experience into Russian repertoire. Advanced singers including master's degree and professional levels will add important roles and arias to their repertoire. Master Class RepertoireBoth vocal and audition/professional development master classes are dedicated to standard opera repertoire. Singers can sing any aria, in any language. MemorizationWe perform operas in concert format with music. Memorization is optional for concert opera performances. Our goal is to get the roles into the voice. A new summer program is helping singers make sense of the Russian language in just four short weeks. Click to read the story Article is available by permission from Classical Singer Magazine Applause
Congratulations, Ghena, on your exciting new Russian Opera Workshop! I treasure the memory of our collaboration on Tchaikovsky's "Iolanta" at AVA. Your Workshop students are lucky to work with you, since you are not only a visionary musician but also a gifted pedagogue, willing and able to share your knowledge and your world so generously with those whom you teach. I wish you all success on this new venture!
Sincerely, Peter Kazaras Artistic Director Seattle Opera Young Artists Program Professor of Music Director of Opera UCLA Applause
